It was reported by the Kyodo news agency that the Super Sentai Series, which is running on TV-Asahi for 50 years will end with No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger, the currently airing series.
According to said report, the reason why Super Sentai will end is due to the income it earned from events, merchandise, and film adaptations are not enough to cover the production cost of the series. The current series, No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger is the 50th anniversary entry of the franchise.
Toei and TV-Asahi hasn't made an official statement regarding the matter. That being said, there are rumors of a possible rebrand of the franchise or that the franchise will just change TV networks as rumors of the next superhero team produced by Toei has been circulating for months, which is said to be a team set in a magical ninja academy. Take note, until official trademarks of the series will pop-up or if Toei will release an official statement, it's best to take this with a grain of salt.
