Sunrise announced in the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM anime film event that the it will get a prequel project titled Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO.
During the event, it was revealed that Chiaki Morosawa and Shigeru Morita, the screenwriters for Gundam SEED wrote the project's scenario while they are planning for Gundam SEED FREEDOM. In addition, Gundam SEED director Mitsuo Fukuda, who was present in said event stated that the script for SEED FREEDOM ZERO was completed 20 years ago. The storyboard for it were nearly half finished, and the oldest storyboards predates SEED FREEDOM.
Fukuda also added that SEED FREEDOM ZERO was originally planned to be an OVA, but the staff hasn't officially decided on how it will be presented now. That said, a special teaser video of it will be revealed at the end of the second screening of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM's Special Edition version, which will run for November 1-14. More updates will be revealed in the future.
