Sunrise announced the next mainline entry of the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, titled Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, which is a collaboration with studio khara (Rebuild of Evangelion films).
The new series follows Amate Yuzuriha (voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa), a high school student who is living peacefully in a space colony floating in outer space. When she meets a war refugee named Nyaan (voiced by Yui Ishikawa), Amate is drawn into the illegal mobile suit dueling sport known as Clan Battle.
Under the entry name "Machu," she throws herself into fierce battle day after day, piloting the GQuuuuuuX. Then an unidentified Gundam mobile suit pursued by both the space force and the police appears before her, along with its pilot, a boy named Shuji Ito (voiced by Shimba Tsuchiya).

Yoji Enokido (RahXephon) will write the series and its scripts with fellow Neon Genesis Evangelion collaborator Hideaki Anno also writing scripts for the series as well. The series will feature character designs by take (Pokémon franchise), mechanical designs by Ikuto Yamashita (Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gunbuster), and music by Yoshimasa Terui (Jujutsu Kaisen) & Masayuki Hasuo.
Directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki (Rebuild of Evangelion), the series will first make its theatrical debut with a special compilation film titled "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-", which will is set for a January 17, 2025 release in Japan.
