The official Lupin III Twitter account announced a new Lupin III anime film tentatively titled LUPIN the IIIRD THE MOVIE.
This is the first new 2D feature-length Lupin III film in nearly 30 years since 1996's Lupin III: Dead or Alive. The past 2D Lupin III films namely, Lupin the IIIrd: Jigen's Gravestone, Lupin the IIIrd: Goemon's Blood Spray, and Lupin the IIIrd: Fujiko Mine's Lie all run for less than an hour long.
Telecom Animation Film will once again animate the project with the main staff of the Lupin the IIIrd anime films, namely director Takeshi Koike (Redline) and writer Yuya Takahashi (Kamen Rider Geats) returning to work on said film. Other returning staff members include music composer James Shimoji (Redline), and creative adviser Katsuhito Ishii. Featuring the tagline "You don't yet know the real Lupin III", LUPIN the IIIRD THE MOVIE is set for a 2025 release.
