Nintendo announced at The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct the title for the upcoming The Legend of Zelda film.
Simply titled "The Legend of Zelda", series creator Shigeru Miyamato revealed that the reason why the film doesn't have any subtitles will be revealed if you watch the film. In addition, it is also confirmed that this will be an original film based on the many stories, ideas, and concepts of the series, built up in the games for the past 40 years. As previously reported, Bo Bragason (Renegade Nell) will play Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (Pinocchio) will play Link.
The film is produced by Nintendo and Arad Productions, with Nintendo co-financing more than 50% of it alongside Sony Pictures Entertainment. Sony will also be in-charge with the film's worldwide distribution as well. Series creator Shigeru Miyamoto will serve as the film's producer alongside Avi Arad (Spider-Man). Lastly, the film will be written by Derek Connolly (Jurassic World) and directed by Wes Ball (The Maze Runner Trilogy).
The Legend of Zelda is set for an April 30, 2027 release, exclusively on theaters.
