The official Chihayafuru -Meguri- Twitter account posted the teaser trailer for the upcoming series. The trailer features the narration from Asami Seto, the voice actress who voiced Chihaya in the anime adaptations.

As previously reported, the series takes place ten years after the events of the last live-action Chihayafuru film, Chihayafuru: Musubi. That said, the series will star Ami Toma (Lonely Castle in the Mirror) as Meguru Aizawa, a second-year high school student who quietly takes part in a competitive karuta card playing club, which is in danger of disbanding due to the lack of members.
Mone Kamishiraishi (An Incurable Case of Love) will reprise her role from the live-action films as Kanade Oe, who is now a part-time teacher and serves as the adviser of said karuta club. Lastly, original manga creator Yuki Suetsugu, who is involved with the project, illustrated a picture of the now adult members of the Mizusawa karuta club surrounding Kanade.
The director of the original films, Norihiro Koizumi will serve as the showrunner with Naoya Fujita, Daisuke Honda, Chiaki Matsumoto, and Kazuhiro Yoshida directing the series. Monogatari Lab and Suzuyuki Kaneko will write the show's scripts, and Masaru Yokoyama (Her Blue Sky) returning from the live-action films to compose the show's music. Chihayafuru -Meguri- is set to premiere this July 9th on NTV at 10pm JST.
