The official Chihayafuru -Meguri- Twitter account posted a new trailer for the upcoming Chihayafuru sequel series, and also revealed that the main cast from the previous live-action films will reprise their roles in said series.

Suzu Hirose (Our Little Sister) reprises her role as Chihaya, the current karuta queen, who became the advisor the Mizusawa High School karuta club, but is currently on leave of absence from her job for some reason. Also reprising their respective roles are:
As previously reported, Mone Kamishiraishi (An Incurable Case of Love) will reprise her role from the live-action films as Kanade Oe, who is now a part-time teacher and serves as the adviser of the Mizusawa High School karuta club.
The series takes place ten years after the events of the last live-action Chihayafuru film, Chihayafuru: Musubi. The series stars Ami Toma (Lonely Castle in the Mirror) as Meguru Aizawa, a second-year high school student who quietly takes part in a competitive karuta card playing club, which is in danger of disbanding due to the lack of members.
The director of the original films, Norihiro Koizumi will serve as the showrunner with Naoya Fujita, Daisuke Honda, Chiaki Matsumoto, and Kazuhiro Yoshida directing the series. Monogatari Lab and Suzuyuki Kaneko will write the show's scripts, and Masaru Yokoyama (Her Blue Sky) returning from the live-action films to compose the show's music. Chihayafuru -Meguri- is set to premiere this July 9th on NTV at 10pm JST.
