Theater Echo announced that voice actress Yoshiko Ohta has passed away due to heart failure. She was 89 years old.
Born in April 1932 in Hyogo prefecture, she joined the theater troupe Theater Echo in 1963, and since then, she worked as an actress and a voice actress. She also received Tokyo Anime Award Festival's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.
She is best known to most fans as Akko in Himitsu no Akko-chan, Sapphire in Princess Knight, Kimba in Kimba the White Lion, Gan-chan in Yatterman, Nobita Nobi in the 1973 Doraemon anime, and the first Sewashi in the 1979 Doraemon anime. For tokusatsu fans, she is best known for her role as Peebo in Choudenshi Bioman.
