It was announced by talent agency Aoni Production that voice actress Wakana Yamazaki has passed away. She was 61 years old.
The voice actress passed away on April 18th, with her relatives helding a private funeral.
She is best known for her long running role as Ran Mori in the Detective Conan anime and has voiced the character since 1996. Akemi Okamura, who voiced the character since episodes 1,193 while Yamazaki was undergoing medical treatment will now take over the role.
Aside from Ran Mori, she is also known for voicing Nojiko in the One Piece anime and once voiced Nami for episodes 70-79, while her regular voice actress, Akemi Okamura was on maternity leave. She's also the long running voice actress for Ayane in the Dead or Alive game series. Her other well known roles include: Koan in Sailor Moon R, Meiko Akizuki in Marmalade Boy, and Arukenimon in Digimon Adventure 02.
