The official Toho Movies YouTube channel posted a new teaser trailer for Shin Ultraman, giving us our first proper look at Zoffy and Zetton in said film.
Giant unknown creatures known as "S-Class Species" appeared one after another across Japan, thus making their existence a commonplace. The Japanese government, who has reached their limit because conventional weapons are useless, issued the S-Class Species Suppression Protocol and formed an enforcement unit, known as the SSSP.
The members of the team are: Leader Fumio Tamura (Nishijima), Executive Strategist Shinji Kaminaga (Saitoh), Unparticle Physicist Taki Akihisa (Arioka), and Universal Biologist Yume Funaberi (Hayami). As the threat of S-Class Species worsens, a silver giant appears from beyond Earth's atmosphere. In addition, Analyst Hiroko Asami (Nagasawa) is newly appointed to the SSSP to deal with this giant and is partnered with Shinji Kaminaga. In Hiroko's report, she writes... "Ultraman (tentative name), identity unknown."
A big screen adaptation of the original 1966 Ultraman series, the film will be written and produced by famed director Hideaki Anno (Neon Genesis Evangelion) with Shin Godzilla collaborator Shinji Higuchi (Gamera Trilogy) directing the said project. The film also features music by Shiro Sagisu (Neon Genesis Evangelion, Bleach). Distributed by Toho, the film part of the Ultraman franchise's 55th anniversary celebrations, Shin Ultraman premiered last May 13th in Japan, and debuted at #1 at the Japanese box office, and stayed on top of it for two weeks straight.
