It was announced that Rumiko Takahashi's classic manga series, Urusei Yatsura will get a new anime adaptation!
This new adaptation will feature a brand new cast with Hiroshi Kamiya (Attack on Titan, One Piece, Uchu Sentai Kyuranger) as Ataru Moroboshi and Sumire Uesaka (BanG Dream!, Ultraman Trigger) as Lum Invader. The duo will replace Toshio Furukawa and Fumi Hirano respectively.
The series will be animated by David Production (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) and is directed by Hideya Takahashi (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind) and Yasuhiro Kimura (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind). The series will feature scripts overseen by Yuuko Kakihara (Cells at Work!) and will feature character designs by Naoyuki Asano (Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!)

The upcoming anime will adapt select stories from the 34-volume manga series and will have full year run, but not consecutively. The show's "first season" will premiere this year.
