It was announced that actor RJ Cyler (Power Rangers) will join the cast of the Black Lightning TV series.
He'll play the role of Todd Green, an awkward and gangly tech genius. When he is passed over for a research grant, Green gets an offer that he cannot refuse from series antagonist Tobias Whale (played by Marvin "Krondon" Jones III). His character will have a recurring role in the series.
The Black Lightning TV series is based on the DC Comics character of the same name created by Tony Isabella and Trevor Von Eeden. The series follows High school principal Jefferson Pierce (played by Cress Williams), who retired his superhero persona Black Lightning years ago after seeing the effects it had on his family. He is forced back to become a hero again after seeing the rise of the 100, a local gang led by Tobias Whale and the increase of crime and corruption in his community.
Black Lightning is currently airing every Tuesday nights at 9pm ET/PT on The CW and is streaming internationally on Netflix.
