New Yaiba Anime Adaptation Trailer Features Show's Opening Theme

The staff for the new Yaiba anime adaptation, Shin Samurai-den YAIBA posted a new trailer for the series, which features the show's opening theme, "Blade" by Blue Encount.

As previously reported, Minami Takayama will reprise her role as Yaiba Kurogane. Joining her in the main cast are: Manaka Iwami (Oshi no Ko) as Sayaka Mine, Yoshimasa Hosoya (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans) as Takeshi Onimaru, Katsuyuki Konishi (Gurren Lagann) as Kenjuro Kurogane, Junichi Suwabe (Fate/stay night) as Musashi Miyamoto, Isshin Chiba (Tekken) as Kagetora, and Kosuke Echigoya (Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway) as Shonosuke.

The series will be animated by Wit Studio (Attack on Titan) and is directed by Takahiro Hasui (Mob Psycho 100 II) with scripts written by Touko Machida (The IDOLM@STER). Yoshimichi Kameda (INU-OH) will serve as the show's character designer and chief animation director, and Takeshi Maenami (Uma Musume Pretty Derby: Beginning of a New Era) serving as the sub-character designer and main animator. The series will feature music composed by Yutaka Yamada (Tokyo Ghoul) and Yoshiaki Dewa (IRODUKU: The World in Colors), Haru Yamada (Made in Abyss) will serve as sound director, and Maiko Okada (After the Rain) will serve as animation producer.

The original series follows Yaiba Kurogane, a young samurai boy inspired by Miyamoto Musashi, the real-life swordsman who pioneered the Hyoho Niten Ichi-ryu style of two-sword fighting and wrote The Book of Five Rings, a classic on military strategy.

Shin Samurai-den Yaiba is set to premiere this April 5 on YTV, NTV, and their affiliates throughout Japan at 5:30pm JST. It will air before Detective Conan as part of the "Gosho Aoyama" block.
