The official website of musician and composer Yuji Ohno announced that Ohno passed away. He was 84 years old.
The cause of death is due to natural causes, and his production company Office Augusta noted that he died after going to sleep, without any change in his prior condition before going to sleep.
He is best known for his work as a jazz pianist and composer, and is best known for his work for the Lupin III anime series, which includes the show's iconic opening theme. He first worked in the franchise with Lupin III Part II, including the feature film, Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro. He continued composing music for the franchise, with his last work being Lupin III Part VI and Lupin the 3rd vs. Cat's Eye.
Ohno has performed music from the franchise in multiple concerts throughout the decades as part of the jazz act, Yuji Ohno & Lupintic Five, later renamed as Yuji Ohno & Lupintic Six.
