The official TOHO animation YouTube channel posted the second trailer for the Kaiju No. 8 anime's upcoming second season. The trailer features the show's new opening theme, "You Can't Run From Yourself" by Aurora.
Aside from Koki Uchiyama (Hunter x Hunter, Kamen Rider Saber), who will join the cast as Gen Harumi, also joining the show's cast are: Hiroki Yasumoto (Bleach, Street Fighter) as Eiji Hasegawa and Kana Hanazawa (Oreimo, Cells at Work!) as Rin Shinonome.
Based on Naoya Matsumoto's manga of the same name, the series follows Kafka Hibino who vows to become a member of the Japanese Defense Force along with his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro after their town was destroyed by kaiju, only to fail countless times in the examinations, and ends up becoming a member of the monster clean up crew. This all changed after a small talking monster flies into his body via his mouth, thus gaining the ability to transform into a monster. Dubbed Kaiju No. 8, Kafka still has his consciousness and gains superhuman strength in his kaiju form.
Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 is set to premiere this July 19th on TV Tokyo and other affiliates, and will also stream worldwide. In addition, the original side story, "Hoshina's Day Off" will make its Japanese TV premiere on July 5th on TV Tokyo and affiliates at 11pm JST, and will also stream worldwide.
