It was announced at the end of Kaiju No. 8 anime's 12th/final episode that the anime will get a sequel.
In addition, it was also announced that Koki Uchiyama (Hunter x Hunter, Kamen Rider Saber) will join the cast as Gen Harumi. Details if this sequel will be a movie or a second season are yet to be revealed.
Based on Naoya Matsumoto's manga of the same name, the series follows Kafka Hibino who vows to become a member of the Japanese Defense Force along with his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro after their town was destroyed by kaiju, only to fail countless times in the examinations, and ends up becoming a member of the monster clean up crew. This all changed after a small talking monster flies into his body via his mouth, thus gaining the ability to transform into a monster. Dubbed Kaiju No. 8, Kafka still has his consciousness and gains superhuman strength in his kaiju form.
