Toho announced that the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood manga will inspire a stage musical adaptation.
The first part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, Phantom Blood follows Jonathan "JoJo" Joestar whose life changed forever when he meets his new adopted brother, Dio Brando. For some reason, Dio has a smoldering grudge against him and derives pleasure from seeing him suffer. Little did he know that Jonathan fights back, and thus begins a long and hateful relationship that will last for generations.
The musical will be written by Tsuneyasu Motoyashi (My Hero Academia stage productions) and directed by Nei Hasegawa, who previously worked on the stage adaptation of series creator Hirohiko Araki's Shikei Shikkochu Datsugoku Shinkochu manga in 2015. Lastly, French composer Dove Attia will compose the musical's music.
The JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood musical is set to premiere this February 2024 at the Imperial Theater in Tokyo.
