Tsuburaya announced that actor Johnny Yong Bosch (Bleach, Code Geass) will star in Ultraman Blazar's upcoming English dub!
He will play the role of SKaRD captain Gento Hiruma, who is also Ultraman Blazar's human host. For tokusatsu fans, he is best known for his role as Adam Park/MMPR Black/Zeo Ranger IV/Green Turbo Ranger from the Power Rangers franchise and Kit Taylor/Kamen Rider Dragon Knight in the Kamen Rider Dragon Knight game for the Wii.
As previously reported, the series' English dub will be released the same time as the original Japanese version online. Lastly, like the dubs for Shin Ultraman and Ultraman Z, it is also produced by Okratron 5000. Tsuburaya will announce more cast members for the upcoming English dub every other day. The Global Guardian Force (GGF) was established by nations all around the world in the year 1966 in response to the worldwide outbreak of kaiju disasters. Today, Earth sees continues destruction of nature and rapid rise in global warming. One night, the space crustacean kaiju Bazanga appears. GGF's cleanup operation is unsuccessful, and the special forces led by Gento Hiruma find themselves in a desperate situation. This is when a mysterious giant emerges from light. This unidentified humanoid alien has been rumored among astronauts for decades, code named "Ultraman".
Gento is later summoned to the command center in which he is officially appointed as the captain of the Special Kaiju Reaction Detachment or SKaRD and is ordered to investigate the Ultraman from the Battle of Bazanga to determine whether it is a threat that needs to be eliminated or not. He then has a flashback of a faraway galaxy, a shred of memory of a blazar. Thus, Captain Gento, who is shrouded by Ultraman Blazar's light, with the unique members of the newly organized SKaRD, throws themselves into battles against kaiju with dauntless courage and an unwavering sense of justice!
Written and directed by Kiyotaka Taguchi (Ultraman Orb, Ultraman Z) and co-written by Keigo Koyanagi (Ultraman Z), Ultraman Blazar is set to premiere on July 8th on TV Tokyo and its affiliates.
