The training montage scene gave me an idea on their respective fighting styles in a much better perspective. Seeing Takeru, Kenta, Akira, Haruka and Momoko train on their specialty is one neat sight to see. This gave me an insight that most Sentai shows nowadays didn't have this kind of training montage. Even if the scene is really cool, I still can't help but think where did Sugata get his funding for his team and how the heck he got some people to work for him in training the Maskmen? Oh well, I might get an explanation on that one later in the series!
Because of her betrayal, his brother forsakes her and wants to kill this instant but Emperor Zeba stops him and instead punishes Princess Ial into an eternal sleep in hell! By the way, their concept of hell is rather unique as it's depicted as a cold, underground cave. Ial's eternal sleep fits well with the terrain of the cave as she was sealed inside a giant block of ice that adds up to the "eternal" part of the sleep in hell. This scene amazed me for some reason as I can't figure out how they pulled it off. I mean, putting a chick inside a giant block of ice? Will it kill the actress if you do it in real life? I tried watching that scene for at least two more times just to check if Ial moved a bit while she is sleeping on that ice, but nope, she didn't.
Heck, even in the case of the enemies, Baraba started not to trust Prince Igam as he is the brother of Princess Ial! With that in mind, Prince Igam will do something to clear his name and to prove his loyalty to the Underground Tube Empire, he will kill Takeru. The battle between Takeru and Igam is one of the major highlights in this episode as we witness an older brother's rage towards his sister's boyfriend. I know that kind of thing happens all the time to some siblings but still, this is a different case as Igam really wants to see Takeru die!
This gives Takeru a chance to enter a vehicle called Shooter 001 that can transport him to the Turboranger, this series' carrier mecha and nope, I am not joking that's the actual name of the Maskman's carrier mecha! Just like every carrier mecha that I know, it has some weapons to protect its contents, namely the five vehicles needed for the formation of the Great Five, the Masky Fighter, Masky Jet, Masky Gyro, Masky Tank and Masky Drill.
For starters, I am expecting that after they left the carrier, they at least did some attacks on their vehicles but nope, they went straight with the formation of the Great Five. Considering that the monster's ability is to split into two different creatures, it is effective in combat to just fight the enemy in their respective machines and not as the Great Five. Heck, I am expecting that we will see the Masky Tank and Masky Drill in action as most of the screen time in terms of vehicle battles in the previous episode came from the Masky Jet, Masky Gyro and Masky Fighter!
Masky Jet's wings also functions as the container of the Great Five's sword, the Photoelectron Riser. The sequence wherein the Great Five pulls out a sword from the shield is really cool. As for the finisher, I find it a bit underwhelming since it's not that really flashy, it's just the Great Five slashing its opponent and that's it. After the defeat of the Grand Igua Dogler, Emperor Zeba summons a Dark Holom to the upper world. The Maskmen tried to stop it only to fail miserably. The purpose of the Dark Holom is to spread darkness to our world once our world is burned and destroyed! Can the Maskmen stop the spreading of the Dark Holom? Or will this be the end of the Maskmen? That's what I felt after seeing the Dark Holom scene. The scene felt like I am watching the climax of the show's final episode... and the show just finished airing its second episode!
