Legendary Nintendo game creator Shigeru Miyamoto has unveiled in the official Nintendo Twitter account our first look at the live-action The Legend of Zelda film.
Bo Bragason (Renegade Nell) will play Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (Pinocchio) will play Link. Details such as the plot are yet to be revealed. If the film will be like the games, it will be the adventures of a young hero named Link, his relationship with Princess Zelda, and face a villain named Ganon/Ganondorf.
The film is produced by Nintendo and Arad Productions, with Nintendo co-financing more than 50% of it alongside Sony Pictures Entertainment. Sony will also be in-charge with the film's worldwide distribution as well. Series creator Shigeru Miyamoto will serve as the film's producer alongside Avi Arad (Spider-Man). Lastly, the film will be written by Derek Connolly (Jurassic World) and directed by Wes Ball (The Maze Runner Trilogy).
The Legend of Zelda is currently scheduled for a May 7, 2027 release. Filming is currently underway as of this writing.
