It was confirmed by the wife of voice actor Jefferson Utanes that the iconic Filipino voice actor has passed away today, December 16th. He was 46 years old.
Utanes is best known as the voice of Son Goku in the Dragon Ball franchise and aside from Goku, he also voiced Master Roshi, Uub, Shin, Pikkon, and Goku Black in the franchise. He was also the voice of Doraemon until the Filipino dub of Stand By Me Doraemon 2 in which he officially retired playing the character. His other known roles include: Pokémon's James, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters' Yami Yugi, D.Gray-Man's Allen Walker, Detective Conan's Kogoro Mouri, One Piece's Usopp, My Hero Academia's Tenya Iida, Fairy Tail's Gajeel Redfox, Hunter x Hunter 2011's Hisoka, Jujutsu Kaisen's Sukuna, and more recently, Dandadan's Ken "Okarun" Takakura.
Outside of anime, he is Jackie Chan's main Filipino voice actor, SpongeBob Squarepants' Mr. Krabs, Barney and Friends' Barney, Jumong's Jumong, Ultraman Z's Ultraman Zero, and Kamen Rider Blade's Kamen Rider Garren. Aside from voice acting, he also served as dubbing director in multiple projects.
