The official Toei Movies YouTube channel posted an updated second trailer for the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero film, revealing the film's new release date.
Originally planned for an April 22nd release in Japan, the movie was delayed due to the recent Toei Animation hack. That said, the film's new Japanese release date will be on June 11th. It is unknown if the planned summer release window for North America will also be affected as well.
The film features the return of the Red Ribbon Army, and the arrival of their two new Androids, namely: Gamma 1 (voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya) and Gamma 2 (voiced by Mamoru Miyano). These two declare themselves as superheroes. What is the goal of this newly revived Red Ribbon Army?!
Taking place* before the End of Z Arc, the final arc of the Dragon Ball manga, this film is the overall 21st anime film in the franchise, with series creator Akira Toriyama returning to work on the film's story, screenplay and character designs. Planning for the film started in 2018 prior to the release of Dragon Ball Super: Broly, and that the film will feature an unexpected character, and its goal is to tell a "large-scale story", which will charter through, "unexplored territory in terms of the visual aesthetics to give the audience an amazing ride."
