It was announced that actor Masaya Kato (Godzilla 1998, Sanada 10 Braves) will join the cast of the upcoming Ultraman Blazar TV series.
He will play the role of Retsu Haruno, the 56-year-old chief of staff at the command office of the Global Guardian Force's Japanese branch. An ambitious individual, he climed the ranks within the organization, thus obtaining his current rank as chief of staff. He is also Captain Gento Hiruma's superior, whom he often imposes challenging tasks on, but secretly has a soft spot for dogs.
Due to the organization struggling to combat recurring kaiju threats, he swiftly investigates and analyzes the unique characteristics of each kaiju and establishes the specialized unit, SKaRD, within the Japanese branch to deal with them. He is also the one who recruited Gento as the team's captain.
Written and directed by Kiyotaka Taguchi (Ultraman Orb, Ultraman Z) and co-written by Keigo Koyanagi (Ultraman Z), Ultraman Blazar is set to premiere on July 8th on TV Tokyo and its affiliates.
